About The Group

The North British Railway Study Group was formed in 1978 by a group of enthusiasts keen to learn more about the North British Railway, which was one of the largest railways in Scotland, with extensive routes in northern England, prior to the Grouping. It then became a major constituent of the L.N.E.R.
The objectives of the Group are to promote the study of the North British Railway, along with its constituents and successors, to co-ordinate the researches of its members, and the dissemination of information within the Group. It also aims to accumulate knowledge, information, photographs, records and drawings and to encourage the building of models relating to the North British Railway from its earliest days to the present time.
Members are kept in contact via. a quarterly
Journal, a Newsletter, inter-member correspondence and Local area informal meetings (where practicable). The group is represented, when possible, by stands at Model Railway Shows. Membership is open to any person, over 18 years of age, having an interest in the former North British Railway. As a member you will receive the group's quarterly newsletter and such back issues as are available, have access to the group's collection of drawings and knowledge and be able to meet and correspond with a body of enthusiasts who share a common interest in the North British Railway.
If you are interested in joining the Group you can print a copy of the Application Form and send it to the Membership Secretary at the address shown below, along with the appropriate fee.  (£18.00 normal, £12.00 for seniors - valid until 10/2007)
